At V.E.R.D.E (Voces en Español para Resources, Development and Environment), our mission is to enhance accessibility to environmental knowledge by translating essential environmental and conservation materials into Spanish. We are committed to fostering community engagement and education through partnerships and outreach, empowering Spanish-speaking communities with the tools they need to participate fully in environmental efforts. By promoting inclusivity in environmental advocacy, we strive to create a diverse and informed network of leaders dedicated to protecting and preserving our natural world. 

At VERDE, we acknowledge that Spanish is not the native language of many Latine peoples. The spread of the Spanish language across Latin America and beyond is a direct consequence of colonization, a movement driven by racism and discrimination that sought to erase Indigenous cultures, languages, and traditions.

In spite of this history, Spanish has become a unifying language across much of Latin America and beyond, enabling communication and connection across diverse communities. We honor the resilience and rich heritage of the Indigenous languages and cultures that predate colonization, but we also embrace Spanish as a shared tool to unite and empower Latine communities today.

Based out of California, a place deeply enriched by its Indigenous, Mexican, and broader Latine histories, we are committed to using Spanish as a bridge to make ecological, environmental, and conservation knowledge accessible. 

We see language not just as a tool, but as a way to honor our shared stories, confront our histories, and move forward together.
